Celebrating a Pioneer in Diplomacy
Today, we pay tribute to Mbaranga Gasarabwe, an icon of Rwandan diplomacy, and our Honorary President and President of the Scientific Council of Cluster Digital Africa. Her remarkable journey is a source of inspiration for all, embodying the power of diplomacy in service to Africa.

Mbaranga's education is exemplary, including a master's degree in economics from the University of Burundi and a master's in management and business administration from Hult International Business School in Boston, Massachusetts, USA. This strong foundation laid the groundwork for her outstanding career.
???? Her career with the United Nations began in 1991, marking the start of a dedicated service journey. Mbaranga rose through the ranks within the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in New York, holding high-ranking positions. Her role as Resident Coordinator/Resident Representative of UNDP took her through various African countries, including Guinea, Djibouti, and Benin.
???? But her influence expanded further when she became the first Under-Secretary-General for the Safety and Security of the United Nations from 2011 to 2015. In this role, she was responsible for managing the department and reported to the Assistant Secretary-General for Safety and Security, Peter Thomas Drennan.
???? Mbaranga's contribution to diplomacy, development aid coordination, and global security is a source of admiration. She paved the way for Africa and made a significant difference.
???? Today, as an eminent leader, Mbaranga Gasarabwe heads the Scientific Council of Cluster Digital Africa and plays a key role in our mission to promote an inclusive and prosperous digital Africa.
